MBPOA COMMITTEES and CLUBS

Our committees and clubs are the backbone of our organization. Our members volunteer their time and expertise to make the MBPOA a truly neighborly institution. The commitment by our members and committee directors is unrelenting. They are what make the MBPOA such a terrific organization. They give all of us a voice in our community!

Quality of LIfe Committee
Looks to attract families who will contribute to the betterment of our membership and get them more involved with our community. The Quality of Life Committee puts on our terrific events such as the Music By The Bay Festival the Friday Night Music Cafes and Friday Night Movie Nights.

Membership Committee
Establishes membership data-base; based dock and slip assignments on residency eligibility; computerized waiting lists for increased fairness and transparency; and processes memberships year-round.

Marina Management Committee
Dock masters at Marinas 1 and 5 oversee the running of the marinas, which includes security guards, safety issues, payroll, and general maintenance.

Clubhouse Committee
The clubhouse committee takes care of general maintenance, overall inspection of the building, and determines if we need repairs, renovations, and improvements.

Clubhouse Rental Committee
Parties are booked year round and the Chairperson does the scheduling and oversees the bartender, party custodian, and stocking the bar.

Newsletter Committee
Information for the monthly newsletter is gathered, printed, and mailed.

Beautification Committee
We do Adopt-a-Highway six times a year. The beautification committee oversees the Clubhouse grounds and plantings at marinas. They work closely with the Neighborhood Road Beautification Committee and the William Floyd Summit Beautification Committee.

Events Committee
Several free events are held throughout the year such as the Snapper Derby for the children, Music by the Bay, the Blue Claw Crab Festival, Christmas Tree Lighting, Menorah Lighting, and the Christmas Parade. The events committee is responsible for providing refreshments for meeting nights.

Financial Committee
The financial committee is responsible for income, expenses and taxes, which are processed weekly, along with payroll for marina guards, clubhouse bartender, and custodian.

Voice in our Community Meetings
The MBPOA is extremely active in our community. We attend Town Hearings; County and State meetings; South Shore Estuary Reserve; Save the Forge River (part of MBPOA waterfront); 2030 Comprehensive Management Plan for the Town of Brookhaven; Downtown Revitalization for the 3rd County Legislative District; The Bayview Park Committee; Sea Level Rise Task Force Citizens Advisory Panel and other local meetings so we can keep our members informed of what is going on in the area.
