The ultimate vacation getaway, Mastic Beach offers pristine beaches without a being pretentious. Nestled in this out of the way community, the MBPOA has been a haven for generations of beach-goers, outdoor enthusiasts, and water sport lovers. Just a short boat or bike ride to the Atlantic Ocean, the MBPOA and our properties are something special.
Free of chaos this unique beach paradise seems like a world away from its "north of the highway" harried way of life. A weekend in Mastic Beach gets you back to nature. With all the biking, hiking, swimming, surfing, beach volleyball, kayaking and tennis; you can finally break free of that monotonous gym routine. It’s no surprise that beach going and boating are an integral part of the Mastic Beach lifestyle. Residents of this eco-friendly Association take advantage of country club living without the private snob effect.
Favorite pastimes are fishing and clamming. While many use the rake and boat approach, longtime locals are more familiar with the foot and toe method. Just walk out in the bay, dig your feet into the sand, and when you feel that smooth, hard rock-like shell, reach down and pull it out. Gather like-minded seafood lovers and have an impromptu clam-bake one of our MBPOA beaches!
Mastic Beach fishing draws anglers from far and wide, looking to haul in their share of bluefish and bass from our shores. Mastic Beach fishing, both sport and recreational, does not require a permit. Whether you are a novice bobber or advanced angler, everyone can land a lunker.
Just For Kids
Here in Mastic Beach, summer is synonymous with the sound of a slamming screen door. Both kids and adults agree Mastic Beach is a giant playground with an endless amount of freedom. Friendships are forged building sand castles on the beach, boogie boarding, and bike riding. Though kids are quick to find their own entertainment at the beach, here are some kid friendly activities that are uniquely Mastic Beach.
Seashell decorating is a time-honored tradition for Mastic Beach kids. Beached treasures are snatched up, decorated, and sold in front yards around town. This has been a long-standing Mastic Beach pastime and is the root of some of the most original souvenirs!
The MBPOA and the Mastic Beach Yacht Club co-sponsor the annual Snapper Derby for children ages 5–12. Anglers are asked to bring their own pole (preferably a snapper pole) and are not permitted to use a reel. Parents can bait hooks, but cannot fish. Bait will be provided. Trophies and prizes will be awarded, and hot dogs and soda will be served after each session at the Yacht Club. It’s a fun day for the kids, and for parents as well.
